Hi!

Thanks for clicking the link and taking time out to read my inaugural blog!

This just sets the format for ongoing 'Fishy' blogs which I plan to post two or three times each month.

I will be covering various current issues together with past travel stories (maybe a bit of humour!) from the World of Seafood and some of my eventful encounters over the last 30 years.

Last week took me to Stavanger in Norway (then to Billingsgate London!) before ending up in Hamburg Germany at the end of the week. Working on some great projects, one of which will lead to more tools in the box for Retailers and Foodservice to better control the issue of Illegal Unregulated or Unrecorded (IUU) Fish entering the supply chain....more of that later this year.

Some of the areas I will be covering will include:

  • Aquaculture and the progress which has been made over the last 20 years ( especially with the ongoing certification of the Farms, Feed Mills, Hatcheries and Processors globally),

  • Sustainability. How do we define it and what are the latest initiatives. How do we stop the criminals who are over fishing

  • Technology and how it can help manage the Oceans in a more responsible manner

  • Wild Capture Fishing

  • Global seafood initiatives

  • Future seafood landscape

  • Myth Busting! Dealing with Fake News!

  • My travels and some of the best recipes I have found along the way

  • And not least....the people who are involved ...from fishermen and women, vessel owners, aquafarmers, processors, regulators, scientists, and of course Chefs!

Scottish Langoustines...quickly steamed to keep maximum flavour!

'Anyone know what time this fishing boat gets in....?

Very pretty city and a great jump off point for seeing the most spectacular Fjords of Norway. From time to time we will be serving a Norwegian Fish 'Stoup' on our Fish in the Fireplace menu on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays.
Stavanger. Famous for its Trolls, Graffiti and Fish Soup
